Start by identifying the input signal, required display range, power supply and outputs.

For example, determine whether your input is 4-20mA, 0-10V, load cell, thermocouple, PT100, pulse or another signal. Then consider whether you need relay alarms, analogue output, RS485/Modbus communication or a remote display.
