RoHS & WEEE at London Electronics

rohs and weee

The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) is a European Union directive which bans some chemicals from being used in some types of electrical and electronic equipment after July 2006.

The aim is to cut health risks and damage to the environment caused by toxic materials including lead, cadmium, mercury, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB's), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE's), and hexavalent chromium (Cr (VI)).

We make products which are classified under Category 9 as "Monitoring and Control Instruments". See Annex IA of the WEEE directive.

This means they are currently exempt from the requirements of RoHS.

Because we realise that our equipment could be used as a component within a system which must fulfil the RoHS rules, we now only source components which are themselves certified RoHS compliant.

We have a strictly controlled, formal system to ensure that we comply with the requirements of European directive 2002/95/CE

Please note that some of our older products may not be RoHS compliant, as they may still have older components in them. However, in most cases, we have an RoHS compliant alternative to offer you - See the alternative cross-reference selector below.

We can issue certificates of compliance for all newer products on request.
